INVITED-TRIAL GUIDE · UPDATED 9 October 2026
How LotTrail works
From declared source files to a reviewed identity link, a bounded investigation and a case with its evidence.
This guide describes the trial scope. Access and the workflow supported for your site are agreed before the trial starts.
Declare each source
A supervisor records each dataset’s source, data owner, the period and relationships it covers, its retention basis and the named people who may read it. The owner sets up access but does not see evidence through that role alone.
Review and accept files
Each file is scanned for malware and reviewed privately before acceptance, with examples, duplicates and conflicts shown. Acceptance is a separate, fresh confirmation tied to the exact file. Sending the same accepted file again adds nothing new, and changed content under an existing record is shown as a conflict.
Link the same identity across systems
The same material often has different codes in different systems. A supervisor can approve that two exact identities are the same, with a reason and an evidence reference. A shared spelling or a close date never creates that link, and a withdrawal is recorded as a new decision.
Investigate and save
Scan or enter an exact identity, choose the sources, the view and a cutoff, and run the investigation. The result states its coverage before the detail, as a table and a timeline. Save it, add it to a case, assign a reviewer and record notes. Saved results never change; a new run shows later evidence.
Practise with the real screens
Practise finding a lot, reading a trace and recognising gaps. Office lessons cover bounded file intake, source review and investigation records.
